Career Summary

Catherine Smyth-McMullen is an award-winning screenwriter with a focus on genre. Catherine’s feature THE OTHER LAMB premiered at TIFF 2019, and screened in competition at BFI London, San Sebastian, and Fantastic Fest. The script was on the 2017 Black List, and was nominated for an AWGIE for ‘Best Feature Adaptation’. On the TV side, Catherine has sold and set-up pilots with Netflix, SyFy, AMC, eOne and more. She was recently a writer on S1 of Neil Gaiman’s THE SANDMAN for Netflix. Before that, she was a writer/consulting producer on TWO SENTENCE HORROR STORIES for The CW/Netflix. Catherine’s work has won or been shortlisted for many national and international awards. She won the International Emmys Ustinov Award for Television Writing, and the John Hinde Science-Fiction Award from the Australian Writers’ Guild. On her upcoming feature slate, she has an original screenplay with producer Gale Anne Hurd at Valhalla, and is also adapting a second horror feature for Rumble Films.
