Career Summary

Amal Alvis is a filmmaker, television director, music video director and editor with over 15 years of experience in the television and film industry in Sri Lanka. His short films Yours Faithfully (2023), Then We Met (2022), Coffee & Wine (2021), I am Fine (2020) were directed and written by him in Melbourne. He was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka (2015-2017), the main State policy body for the Sri Lankan cinema industry. He is the first-assistant director of international films of Sri Lankan filmmaker Asoka Handagama, in the films Asandhimitta (2019), Her. Him. The Other. (2018), Let Her Cry (2015), Him, Here After (2012), including television series East is Calling (2006) and Take This Road (2004). He directed a 30-episode situation comedy Api Anunge (What about us) for Sri Lankan television. He is an organiser of the inaugural International Film Festival of Colombo (IFFCOLOMBO) 2015, collaborating with the Okinawa International Movie Festival.
