Career Summary

Carolyn is a highly skilled Associate Producer, Researcher and Writer who is deeply curious and has a passion for authentic storytelling. She has worked with a number of award-winning directors and producers from the development stage right through to post production. Production companies she's worked with include Genepool Productions, Guesswork TV, Chemical Media, General Strike and GMB Films. In 2022, Carolyn was sponsored by SBS to undertake a 12-month Producers program with Screen Producers Australia and in 2023 she was selected for AIDC's Leading Lights Professional Development Program. Carolyn has a background in Journalism and has been widely published by the Australian media, including by The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, SBS and VICE. In 2020, she was formally recognised for her work on the 'Who Gets To Tell Australian Stories' report, the first comprehensive examination at who produces, frames and tells news and current affairs in Australia. She has also worked closely with the SBS commissioning team, producing detailed reports on the diversity and inclusion of their commissioned slate for three consecutive years, which has enabled the broadcaster to set a benchmark for D&I as well as inform their targets for both on and off screen roles.

Carolyn's skills span from development through to delivery; from crafting compelling narratives, sourcing, casting and pre-interviewing talent, offering valuable insight in Writers' Rooms and the edit suite, pitch writing, preparing research briefs for award-winning directors and helping them shape their vision, archive producing and unearthing hidden gems, location scouting, facilitating shoots and on set production, and fact-checking/annotating scripts. She has an extensive list of contacts, and has developed relationships with a number of museums, galleries, consultants, historians and academics. Carolyn is also highly experienced in navigating the Trove, State and National archives and libraries, and has undertaken courses with Google in Advanced Research Techniques.
