100-PLUS VICTORIAN GAME DEVELOPERS CONTRIBUTE TO THE LAUNCH AND ONGOING SUPPORT OF THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CALL OF DUTY®: VANGUARD

Media Releases  8 Nov 2021

Off the back of a successful Melbourne International Games Week last month, Victoria is further solidifying its title of Australia’s games capital with the highly anticipated launch of Call of Duty®: Vanguard.

Today, Film Victoria’s CEO Caroline Pitcher congratulated Melbourne’s Sledgehammer Games on the ground-breaking launch that saw funding from Victorian Screen Incentive support an array of local jobs, showcasing our state’s exceptional talent in game development.

Call of Duty® remains one of the most exciting gaming franchises in the world, with a large proportion of Vanguard’s engineering work, which underlines the gameplay, being made in Sledgehammer Games’ Melbourne studios. Other Victorian roles included everything from game design, programming, artwork to sound engineering support, which was part of a coordinated worldwide development effort across all of Sledgehammer Games and partner studios.

Call of Duty®: Vanguard follows the journey of various protagonists as they embark on action-packed adventures across the globe, which includes a deeply engaging single player campaign and a massive launch day multiplayer offering, featuring 20 maps and an exciting new zombies experience developed in partnership with Activision studio, Treyarch.

This project delivers on Film Victoria’s commitment to expand the digital games industry by growing the state’s local workforce and supporting creatives to produce high quality and engaging content.
