CALL FOR VICTORIAN SCREENWRITERS TO HEAD TO POSTSCRIPT & DIRECT AT MIFF

Industry Updates  16 May 2017

Film Victoria is seeking Expressions of Interest from Victorian screenwriters and writer/directors to join the 10th PostScript&Direct event taking place at 37ºSouth Market on Sunday 6 August at the Forum Theatre in Melbourne.

Film Victoria will support up to 10 selected early to mid-career Victorian writers and writers/directors to participate in PostScript&Direct where they can pitch their feature film projects to local and international producers. Last year, Film Victoria funded eight writers to attend.

PostScript&Direct is a feature event of MIFF’s 37ºSouth Finance Market, which has opened doors for a number of Victorian screenwriters and directors who have found success pitching their projects to producers. The event runs in a ‘speed dating’ style with selected participants moving from producer to producer doing a 15-minute pitch. Following these pitch sessions, a networking event will be held for attendees to meet with producers in a more informal setting.

Jenni Tosi, CEO, Film Victoria said “PostScript&Direct provides participants with an invaluable experience whereby they can receive direct feedback and gain useful market intelligence which will help them shape their project for future success.

“If you’re a talented Victorian screenwriter/writer-director with a highly original feature screenplay, we want to hear from you.”

Mark Woods, MIFF 37ºSouth Market & Accelerator Director commented "With producers attending from all over Australia and New Zealand, PostScript&Direct is a unique opportunity for Victorian screenwriters. It provides the perfect platform for them to pitch, network and potentially find the right producer to bring their hard grafted work to life.

The deadline for PostScript&Direct applications is 10am Monday 29 May. Eligibility criteria and application forms are available here.

Applications are now open.
