FUNDING TO DELIVER NEW SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN VICTORIAN SCREEN INDUSTRY

Media Releases  19 Sep 2017

Seven organisations will deliver events and activities aimed at early career screen practitioners through Film Victoria’s Early Career Skills Development Program (ECSDP).

Sharing in up to $390,000, the support covers a diverse range of opportunities – from writer workshops for narrative and VR storytelling, masterclasses for documentary filmmakers, a technical camera course and a story lab for CALD practitioners.

Funding will also support Melbourne’s Girl Geek Academy to deliver # SheMakesGames – a one day professional development event for Victorian women to learn about succeeding in the games industry and career pathways.

ECSDP was established to increase Victoria’s skills base by servicing the challenges faced by early career screen practitioners transitioning from tertiary education or non-professional experience into paid employment.

Successful applicants and activities:

●       Compton School – 3-2-1: creating content, building a business, sustaining a creative life

●       Clea Frost - Storytelling for the 21st Century Writer Workshops

●       Girl Geek Academy - #SheHacksGames weekend and #SheMakesGames - targeted workshops and panels
