State of play as 10 Victorian games receive funding boost

Media Releases  15 Oct 2015

Victoria’s credentials as Australia’s game development heartland have been boosted with the announcement that 10 local studios will share in $463,013 funding to create new games and release them to the world.

Six projects have been supported through Film Victoria’s Assigned Production Investment – Games program.

They include The Time Project, an adventure puzzle game by one of Melbourne’s leading indie developers The Voxel Agents; action-based Spear Girl (Sierra Asher); Rogue Singularity, a high-speed obstacle course set in space (Considerable Content); Ascent: The Space Game, an online multiplayer 3D space simulator by Fluffy Kitten Studios; PC based game Spryke, which follows a main character who is part fish, part machine and all action (Volnaiskra); and Desync, an intense first-person action game with a creative combat system (The Foregone Syndicate).

Four additional projects have received support through Film Victoria’s Games Release program, which enables smaller companies to market new projects. They are Intergalactic Space Princess, a hyperactive adventure game for mobile about mistaken identity and roaming the galaxy (Isabelle Gramp); Keep Defense, an action-based trading-card game (Good Game Productions); Pool Rivals, a mobile game that allows players to play pool against players from across the globe (Pocket Play); and Space Dust Racing, a family-friendly racing game.

The announcement comes ahead of Melbourne International Games Week 2015, which will take place from 23 October to 1 November. The week incorporates the 2015 Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) conference, Australia’s premier game development event; an Education in Games summit for teachers; and PAX AUS, an international games festival set to attract thousands of games enthusiasts to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Find out more about Melbourne International Games Week
