Victoria passes on the baton for screen industry conference after eight successful years

Media Releases  29 Jun 2019

After close to a decade as principal partner of the Screen Producers Australia (SPA) annual conference SCREEN FOREVER, Victoria will pass the baton to Queensland to host the event from 2020.

Film Victoria CEO Caroline Pitcher said: ‘It has been such a pleasure to support and host the Screen Producers Australia (SPA) annual conference, SCREEN FOREVER, in Melbourne since 2012 as its principal partner.

“In that time, the screen industry has experienced significant transformation, which has generated many complex challenges as well as some tremendous opportunities.”

SCREEN FOREVER is an essential annual forum on Australia’s screen calendar, bringing producers together to confront ever-changing industry dynamics in both local and global contexts.

Since being held in Victoria, the conference has seen an increase in the number of screen creatives attending, and now attracts more than 850 local and international delegates.

Pitcher said: “Like the screen industry, the conference itself must also continue to transform and evolve, which is why we believe it is timely, after eight years, for it to move on from Victoria and be welcomed by the vibrant state of Queensland.

“Film Victoria will continue to lend our support to SPA and Screen Queensland as we all participate in the conference for years to come. In the meantime, we look forward to putting on an unmissable SCREEN FOREVER in Melbourne in 2019.”

SPA CEO, Matt Deaner, said: “SCREEN FOREVER has had a fantastic run in Melbourne since 2012, going from strength to strength thanks to our great partnership with Film Victoria. We’ve got a stellar line up for 2019, which we’ll announce shortly, to make this year’s conference in Melbourne our best yet. We thank Victoria for the fantastic support they have provided over many years, and look forward to ending our Melbourne run on a high.”

Victoria is also the home of flagship industry events across the screen sector: Series Mania Melbourne, Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC), 37o South at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) and PAX during Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW).
