WORKING WITH YOUTUBE TO GROW DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY HUB IN VICTORIA

Media Releases  10 Sep 2018

The Victorian Government is combining forces with YouTube to stimulate current and new online content creators in Victoria.

Jointly funded by Film Victoria, Creative Victoria and the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Resources and Transport, Victoria’s Digital Creator Program will present 13 workshops across the state, catering to creators who want to maximise their success in the online arena.

The workshops will also target the next generation of YouTube storytellers in Victoria, creating a stronger culture of creative entrepreneurship in everyday Victorians.

While Victoria is home to some of the most successful and diverse YouTube creators, there was an identified need to elevate established creators and encourage a new generation of Victorian YouTube creators - with YouTube set to offer best practice advice on building a sustainable business on the platform, and access to successful creators who have built a brand on and off YouTube.

Video content agency Changer Studios will deliver the program over a 12 month period, relocating to Melbourne to set up a new office to lead the Victorian operations.

The launch of Victoria’s Digital Creator Program coincides with VidCon Australia, with the internationally renowned three-day event that celebrates online video expected to attract over 7000 creators and fans to Melbourne.

YouTube is a key platform for emerging content creators and the initiative further progresses Victoria as an international hub for digital technology and to grow the creative industries.

The first workshop took place at La Trobe Flora Hill Campus in Bendigo on 7 September as part of the Digital Innovation Festival. Stay up to date with new workshop dates via our eNews bulletin and Changer Studios.
