A welcome reception for the wedding of the year

Film & TV  23 Aug 2017

Stroll down the (cinema) aisle for Ali’s Wedding - an affectionate and entertaining story about family, duty and love in multi-cultural Melbourne, told through the lives of a Muslim family with authenticity and warmth.

Based on the real-life experience of lead actor and co-writer Osamah Sami, the feature captures the tensions of the first-generation immigrant, torn between the norms of the country he calls home and those espoused by his family.

Winner of Best Original Screenplay at the Australian Writers' Guild Awards and The Age Critics Award for Best Australian feature film at 2017 MIFF, Ali’s Wedding will be released in cinemas on 31 August.

Produced by Matchbox Pictures, Ali’s Wedding was co-written by Andrew Knight and directed by Jeffrey Walker. Film Victoria provided support through its Assigned Production Investment program.
