Bust Up Writers’ Rooms

  26 Oct 2018

Last week, writers’ room workshops took place for two projects developed through Film Victoria’s Bust Up initiative for emerging Indigenous comedy writers.

Writers Kelly Lefever, Mark O’Toole and Nayuka Gorrie took part in the writers’ room for Davey Thompson’s Imaginary Spear Café, while Kelly, Tracey Rigney and Brendan Luno workshopped Black Like Gulpilil by Ian Michael.

Bust Up began as a joint initiative between Film Victoria and NITV to identify and develop Victorian Indigenous screen comedy talent.

The two projects mentioned here were selected for further development during the initial week-long workshop, held in July 2017, where 10 practitioners pitched the beginnings of a bible.
