World-renowned television festival, Series Mania, will return to Melbourne for a third year this July, delivering limited and exclusive series premieres alongside a jam-packed industry day for screen professionals, with Emmy-nominated writer, executive producer and showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg (Jessica Jones, Twilight, Dexter) headlining the festival.

Attesting to ACMI and Film Victoria’s commitment to television drama, Melbourne is the only city outside of Europe to host Series Mania.

Series Mania Melbourne runs from 3-5 July 2019, with a dedicated Industry Day on Thursday 4 July 2019. Check out the public program below and book your tickets for each session via the ACMI website. Public sessions are free – book now to avoid disappointment!  

 

PUBLIC PROGRAM  SEE WORLD PREMIERE SCREENINGS FIRST AT SERIES MANIA MELBOURNE

Catch exclusive premiere screenings of highly-anticipated productions, as well as an In Conversation event Melissa Rosenberg, where she'll share top tips and insights. 

The Hunting (SBS) | 4 July, 6.30pm, Capitol Theatre

Don’t miss for the world premiere of The Hunting (SBS), staring Asher Keddie and Richard Roxburgh. This topical four-part drama explores the lives of four teenagers, their teachers and families as they deal with the fallout of a nude teen photo scandal.

The Virtues (ITV) | 4 July, 8pm, Capitol Theatre

Series Mania Melbourne will also premiere the critically acclaimed UK drama The Virtues (ITV), starring Stephen Graham (This Is England, Snatch). A visceral four-part series, The Virtues follows a troubled man with repressed memories, who sets off for the south of Ireland to reconnect with his long-lost sister and confront his past.    

Frayed (ABC) | 5 July, 6.30pm, Capitol Theatre

Bittersweet comedy/drama Frayed (ABC) will also enjoy its world premiere at Series Mania Melbourne. Set in 1989, Frayed follows the journey of a wealthy London housewife (Sarah Kendall) who is forced to return to the Australian town she grew up in. In coming home, she must revisit her past and the events that led her to flee as a teenager years ago.

In Conversation with Melissa Rosenberg | 5 July, 8pm, Capitol Theatre 

Join us for an enlightening discussion with Melissa Rosenberg, award-winning showrunner for Jessica Jones and writer for The OC, Dexter and the Twilight franchise, as she delves into her creative practice.

Public screenings listed above are free but bookings are essential, while tickets to the In Conversation event are$25. Book early to avoid disappointment.
