Victorian highlights at 2017 MIFF

Opening night gala

Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Jungle is the adaptation of adventurer Yossi Ghinsberg’s story of survival. Written by Justin Monjo (Spear, The Secret Daughter) and directed by Victorian Greg McLean who is best known for Australia's most successful horror movie, Wolf Creek, this gripping thriller world premieres at MIFF.

Through Film Victoria’s Production Attraction Incentive Fund, post production of the feature took place in Melbourne as Greg and the team worked with a number of Victorian post facilities including Soundfirm, Scott Zero and Mana Music. 

The Butterfly Tree

Melissa George stars alongside Ewen Leslie and Ed Oxenbould in a coming-of-age tale of love and loss tinged with magical realism.

Westwind: Djalu's Legacy

Yolngu warrior, shaman and father Djalu Gurruwiwi, with some help from global pop star Gotye, must find a way to bring two worlds together to save his culture.

Through the MIFF Premiere Fund – 10th Anniversary Retrospective Balibo, Bastardy and Blessed will return to screens, while The Big Steal, Celia, Floating Life and Only the Brave will be part of the Pioneering Women Retrospective program.
