Arctic Qu is a Chinese filmmaker living and working in Melbourne, Australia. Prior to her career in film directing she worked in the Chinese film and TV industry as a screenwriter for best-selling feature films and TV series. She is also known as an award-winning theatre director and novelist, and professional photographer. Through more than 12 years of experience in her creative career, Arctic has developed a strong ability to create impactful narratives which she combines with surrealistic visual styles, forming a unique approach to storytelling on screen.
Her award-winning short films have toured A-category international film festival and top film industry events in US, Europe, Australia, and Asia. In 2021, Arctic founded Gentle Glacier Productions, an independent studio developing a slate of feature films and web series with a special focus on the contemporary female experience and social justice issues.
