Around 3,000 guests filled the Palais for the launch of the 2017 St Kilda Film Festival which celebrates the best of short films from Australia and around the world.
Now in its 34th year, the 2017 line-up once again provides an intrinsic over view of the talent emerging from the nation’s short film industry.
Highlights of 2017’s Top 100 include the Victorian premiere of The Eleven O'Clock by Josh Lawson (The Little Death, Anchorman 2), the world premiere of Banana Boy and the animated Fish with Legs, featuring the voices of Frank Woodley and Barry Otto.
Victorian creative teams are well represented with 54 films featuring in the festival. The travelling roadshow component will provide access to regional Victorians allowing them to engage with a selection of the films screened.
Recently securing a further two years of funding from the Victorian Government through Film Victoria, the Festival will continue to build on its strong industry reputation as a launchpad for early career filmmakers.
