EIGHT DYNAMIC PROJECTS PROGRESS TO STAGE TWO OF ORGINATE

Media Releases  12 Nov 2021

Today, Film Victoria, SBS and Arenamedia announced the eight projects that have progressed to the second stage of Originate, the dynamic development and production program designed to support and amplify the work of writers from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.

The slate of projects showcases a wide range of exceptional talent and highlight the importance of a robust development process when crafting production-ready screenplays for the marketplace.

The successful writers are:

  • Michele Lee with FLOCK
  • Mert Berdilek with AĞRI
  • Katie Found and Markella Kavenagh with INTO THE BLUE
  • Adrian Chiarella with LEVITICUS
  • Kalu Oji with PASA FAHO
  • Allanah Avalon with SCORPIO
  • Harvey Zielinski with SWEET MILK LAKE
  • Liam Phillips with THE SHAPELESS

Stage two of Originate features a week-long writers lab made up of peer-to-peer sessions, group sessions and one-on-one development classes, led by internationally acclaimed story developer and facilitator Angeli Macfarlane.

Creators will receive invaluable advice from Originate partners, Donna Chang (SBS) and Rob Connolly and Liz Kearney (Arenamedia), and be given the opportunity to apply the learnings in real time as they hone their scripts and move toward production.

At the final stage of the program, one project will be greenlit and produced with finance from Film Victoria, SBS and Arenamedia.
