New Fiction Development Manager joins Film Victoria

Industry Updates  5 Apr 2019

Katherine Slattery is set to join the team at Film Victoria to head up our fiction development programs.

Katherine will lead the development and implementation of the programs and initiatives as Film Victoria continues to grow and evolve its remit in the rapidly changing landscape of content creation.

She will also be responsible for identifying strong, original ideas and practitioners – across narrative features, drama, comedy and children’s fiction for television and online.

Katherine has a wealth of experience across script development and the screen industry more broadly – including as an actor and producer – and has worked in a number of key development roles.

Most recently she was Vice President – Content Development at Screen QLD, where she was the lead VP responsible for various initiatives including the YouTube Entrepreneur Program, STAN + SQ Premium Drama Fund and Talent Development Fund, and was previously Development Executive at Screen NSW and Screen Australia.

Among many achievements, Katherine has worked on a host of high-profile films, including Balibo and Samson and Delilah, during her time as Head of Development and Planning at Arenamedia/Footprint Films, and The Babadook, The Daughter and Babyteeth while she was Script Consultant at Waking Dream Productions.

On her appointment, Katherine said: “I’m thrilled to be returning to my hometown of Melbourne to join the Film Victoria team.

“The Victorian screen sector is thriving, its practitioners are world class, and its stories are extraordinary. It’s a privilege to be part of such a screen sector, and a part of Film Victoria’s story.”
