Congratulations to Corrie Chen, Jaine. N. Eira, Michael Anthony Kratochvil, Fiona Leally, Matthew Macknamara, C.S. McMullen, Jillian Moylan, Ann Murison, Craig Scutt and Garrath Westmore, who recently completed Film Victoria's Catapult Feature Lab.
The early career Victorian writers were selected for the five day program. Catapulters and their film concepts were put through their paces as they were challenged and supported by a team of mentors who provided a wealth of insight and advice throughout the week.
Some Lab highlights included: writer Mark Fergus (Children of Men, Iron Man) on the importance of staying open to feedback; writer Kelly Lefever (The Circuit) on building story through characters; Gabrielle Oldaker (Roadshow Films) on the distribution and marketing perspective; and the final day of pitching to Leah Estrin (former Imagine Entertainment creative executive) and Veronica Gleeson (Head of Creative, Madman Productions).
We wish the 2016 Catapult alumni the best of luck as they develop their concepts into screenplays.
