Victoria makes a scene on Nowhere Boys

  28 Feb 2018

With a background in acting, Victoria has delved into writing and direction, with credits on two short films The Last Tupper and Kingdom of Doug. The latter won Best Director and the SBS Television Award at the St Kilda Film Festival in 2014. It was showcased on ABC iview in 2016. Victoria has a comedy web series currently in post production as well as a number of projects in development, including a feature film.

The Director placement saw Victoria direct a scene for Episode 7 while giving her valuable exposure to VFX, SFX and stunt elements along the way.

Sharing her excitement about her experience, Victoria said: “The Director's Placement on Nowhere Boys has wildly exceeded my expectations. It's been an honour to be mentored by director Sian Davies, who is a great teacher, as well as a talented filmmaker, and who has graciously balanced her busy role with giving me an invaluable learning experience. I had the opportunity to direct a scene and I learnt more in that two hours than all the days I've spent on set as an actor. There's nothing like experiencing the cracking pace of television from the director's chair.

“I am also so grateful to producer Beth Frey, who has created a wonderfully supportive and inclusive environment for emerging filmmakers. The experience has only cemented my desire to pursue directing and has armed me with skills I didn't have before. Thanks to Film Victoria and Nowhere Boys for the chance to further my career in our diverse and vibrant industry.”
